It’s hard to walk down the street in any town in Oregon without passing by a coffee shop, pet food store, or convenience store that offers some form of CBD product. And many of you may know that the 2018 Farm Bill removed hemp from the federal Controlled Substances Act. It’s perfectly reasonable to therefore conclude that hemp-derived CBD products are legal throughout the United States.
However, there has been increased enforcement actions against CBD product manufacturers in New York City, Ohio, Maine, and even in our neighbor state to the south, California. And the federal Food and Drug Administration has repeatedly stated that CBD cannot be added to food. How can this be?
Come find out the answers to this and other questions at an evening of illumination and networking with Emerge Law Group attorneys, special guest Sunny Summers from the Oregon Department of Agriculture, and industry professionals! Attorneys Alex Berger and Genny Kiley will provide a presentation on the relationship between federal and state hemp law and how it affects local hemp farmers, processors, and other industry stakeholders. ODA Cannabis Policy Coordinator & Special Projects will give insight into state hemp rules and regulations and what the future of hemp in Oregon may look like with the implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill. All presenters will field questions from the audience. You’ll also have an opportunity to hear from our co-sponsors – Oath, a national cannabis insurance brokerage firm and The Caputo Group, an all-in-one business solutions firm geared toward assisting marijuana and hemp businesses with all aspects of their business from human resources to accounting. We'll offer a menu of happy hour food and beverages to enjoy while you mingle and network.
