CBD and Pets Lecture

Wednesday. October 30th 7:00PM -8:30PM

Phyllis Lucero a Veterinary Cannabis Counselor will present information on how to use CBD for dogs, cats and other mammals. Her discussion will cover uses, dosing, delivery, and product recommendations.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in cannabis and hemp. Cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid receptors located in the central and peripheral nervous systems, which help maintain balance in the body and keep it in a normal healthy state.

While there’s no definitive scientific data on using CBD to treat dogs, there’s anecdotal evidence from dog owners suggesting it can treat pain, especially neuropathic pain, as well as helping to control seizures.

According to Veterinarians CBD is also used because of its anti-inflammatory properties, cardiac benefits, anti-nausea effects, appetite stimulation, anti-anxiety impact, and for possible anti-cancer benefits, although there’s no conclusive data on this use.

Phyllis Lucero was born and raised in Colorado. She attended Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California where she studied Animal Health Technology. Phyllis is currently trained as a Veterinary Cannabis Counselor. The role of a VCC is to support the veterinary team, in the rapidly developing veterinary cannabis industry. She has worked with animals for over 11 years and is currently an Integrative Oncology Technician. She is interested in an alternative approach when it comes to animal healthcare and values the importance of pet nutrition. Her dog Frankie suffers from anxiety and cannabis is the only medicine that treats his anxiety without any harmful side effects. She is passionate about spreading the word on how cannabis can treat so many different ailments in our pets. Her philosophy is to educate the pet owners to get past any negative stigma or fears associated with cannabis and for them to see how beneficial it is for our pets.
